Howtek D4000 Drumer Scanner *UPDATED*

For sale is a Howtek D4000 drum scanner and HP xw4000 computer with Silverfast Ai software.
** For those who have seen this listing before, it has been updated to reflect the new workstation included. This is now a complete working solution, which we are happy to demo at our office for serious buyers **
The scanner is in good working condition, and is able to produce extremely high quality scans from transparencies/slide/negative film and reflective/positives of all sizes up to 8x10.
This is a *real* drum scanner, unlike the drum-like operation of the Imacon/Hasselblad Flextight series. It utilises PMTs (Photo Multiplier Tubes) and not a CCD array to capture information, and as such, in practice has a better DMax, less flare, with a sharper and higher quality image than any current market or older CCD scanner. Wet mounting on a drum scanner such as this also helps to reduce dust and scratches, meaning less work after scanning.
This scanner reputed as one of the best drum scanners for photographers around as unlike many other drum scanners, the D4000 is quite compact, gives excellent results, but is still able to scan up to 8x10. It is ideal for scanning all formats up to 8x10" large format, including 35mm, 120/220 medium format, 4x5", 5x7" and even 6x17cm. In short this is one of the best film scanners ever made.
Included with the scanner is;
HP xw4000 Workstation
2.6Ghz
Windows XP
Spare drum
Spare mounting station
Spare parts including belts, lamps, mounting station parts, calibration strips, e.t.c.
Optosol Scanning gel
Aztek graphic overlay film
Agfa graphic overlay film
Photex scanning wipes
Anti-static cleaner
Plastic cleaner
Anti-vibration pads
Light-box for mounting station
High quality SCSI terminator from Granite digital
We use the Silverfast Ai scanning software which is included - we found it to be the best software available. We have profiled the scanner using a Hutchcolor Target (better than an IT8 calibration target) and basICColor's DropRGB/Catch software. This profile is provided.
The Howtek D4000 uses a SCSI connection, and is connected to the HP xw4000 workstation using a high quality SCSI cable to an Adaptec SCSI card.
The only issue with the scanner is that the display does not show everything correctly, making it hard to do manual focus (though it is still possible). This has been a non-issue for us anyway as the auto-focus function in Silverfast has consistently produced superior results.
